I get asked all the time, “How do I get traffic to my blog?” Lots of people have many Facebook friends, but can’t get them over to their actual blog! Well, if you are getting people to “like” your page, simply to “like” your page, they will never go to your blog! You need to post things that will interest the people who have liked your page.
If you get a bunch of boutique owners to like a page about site seeing in downtown Dallas, most people won’t bother going to your blog! I might “like” the page because I was asked to help them out, but that doesn’t mean I necessarily care about the page itself. I can always hide the updates in my newsfeed, which defeats the purpose, right? I would rather have 20 people on my fan list that actually visit my blog than 300 that could care less! It’s all about quality vs. quantity. Now I’m not saying that having a fan base isn’t a good thing. I have over 3oo fans on my page, many probably could care less…BUT when I interact with people and post links to each of my posts, it gets people to come over and check out my blog. If you post a bunch of spam, you will get hidden, but if you post interesting things and interact with everyone, you will gain loyal followers.
A great way I’ve driven traffic is participating in blog hops. Basically, one blog hosts the hop, you sign up and visit all the other blogs on the list. Your blog address is added to the list. I currently have one each Friday…follow me Friday

So, if you come back here on Friday, go to the Follow Me Friday page, you will sign up with your blog address there. Go through and follow the other blogs that have signed up as well! An added bonus is if you comment on a post or two of theirs, let them know you are following them, you are that much more likely to gain even MORE followers! ;) I had 13 people on my list last week…which isn’t bad for a first time hop….I’m hoping it grows more and more each week!
Another great way to get traffic to your site is to host giveaways! You can either do your own giveaway, or you can go a blog hop giveaway! The hop giveaways are normally nice because everyone involved is driving traffic to each other. I know you are wondering..how do you get things to give away? THAT is where Facebook followers come in handy! Reach out to your direct sales reps, boutique owners, etc. They get exposure by gaining new fans and you get the item to give away on your blog. It’s a win-win situation!
Next blog tips post will discuss making money from your blog….which is always a great thing! Start driving that traffic to your blog first, then I’ll show you how to make some money! To get you started, because I KNOW you are interested, sign up with affiliates, my favorite is Escalate. Sign up now, it takes a few days to get approved! If you have questions, I’d love to help you out!

This is a great idea! I just started my blog today, and was wondering if my fans would follow it or not.. Thanks! :]

A blog is a great addition to any business. It lets you show your personality and story. You can also make additional money from your blog, which is always nice.
Blogs are wonderful and I get my best inspiration from them. You can stand out from the crowd with a blog….on Facebook it’s easy to get “lost in the crowd”.
Nice tips. I’ll be back over on Friday for the blog hopping session! I’ll watch for the announcements on FB.
Thanks for stopping by!
We’ll see you on Friday!
I am visiting from the hop! I am your newest follower and would love it if you would follow me back! thanks so much!

Hosting a blog hop is a great idea! I might be ready to consider taking this on. I’m at least ready enough to seriously look into it
It’s a great way to get started!
They aren’t that difficult and week after week they will get bigger and bigger!
Good info. I’ve been looking at hosting giveaways as a way of driving traffic.
