handmade christmasDay 20: Gift in a Jar

So maybe this isn’t a gift in a “jar” but I’m using a bottle…close enough, right?  This gift bottle is adorable and is a fun way to give a gift.  I used this bottle to create a craft kit for my daughter.  My daughter loves to create STUFF…she is always working on projects, so this is perfect for her.  The bottle is so easy to make, let me show you!

Supplies:

  • Empty 2-Liter bottle
  • Scrapbook paper to create a label
  • Stuff to fill it with!
  • X-ACTO Knife
  • Glue Stick
Directions:
Make sure your bottle is fully cleaned out and dry.  Remove label.  I have found an X-ACTO knife is the best way to easily remove it.
I drew this line to show you how to cut, but you don’t want a big line like this on your bottle.  Cut a “C” shape to create a little door.  Again, the X-ACTO knife is the easiest way to get this cut out right.
Gather items to fill it with.  I raided my craft stash to get most of these items.  Scissors, decorative scissors, hole punch, pretty paper clips, zebra elastic, little flowers, glue, glue stick, decorative wire, beads, ribbon, really anything you’d like!  This bottle doesn’t have to be for craft supplies either.  You could fill it with snacks or whatever.  It’s really versatile!
Fill your bottle by opening the “door” you created.
Cut your scrapbook paper to fit like a label.
Use your glue stick to attach your new label.  This will cover the opening you created, making your bottle look like it’s never been opened!
I cut a piece of paper smaller than my label and created a personalized label for the bottle and tied some ribbon to the top.  Quick, easy and sure to surprise the recipient.  *Make sure to tell them how to get it open!
