Day 11: Stockings!
There are so many amazing things you can do with stockings. I wasn’t sure what to show you, until I found this super cute pair of my daughters jeans, that she had torn a hole in and were too short. I came up with this adorable denim stocking, complete with the steps to show you how to create one for yourself!
- Old pair of jeans
- Sewing Machine
- Paper for making a stencil
- Old stocking to use as a template
Next you want to cut out your stocking shape. Cut just slightly bigger than your pattern for the seam allowance. I made sure my stocking covered the pockets so they would show up on the finished product. Cut one then flip the pattern over to cut your second. You want your pattern to line up correctly when you sew, if you forget to flip the pattern over, you will have one side that is inside out!
Place your two stocking pieces, right sides together. Put your folded over hem piece in as shown in the picture. This will ensure it hangs correctly. Pin the pieces together. Sew along the edges. Be aware of the pockets if there is a lining. Turn right-side out and you are done! How easy was that?!?!
I hope you liked my recycled jeans stocking! Get out those jeans that you aren’t wearing any more and make something useful out of them! The pair I used was one of my daughter’s favorites…now she has a stocking to remember them by!
