Day 23: Cookies!
Christmas time is the perfect time for cookies. There are cookies everywhere. Cookies are given as gifts, eaten during parties and left out for Santa. I wanted to show you how to make a traditional cookie here in New Mexico, the Biscochito. These cookies are light and flaky and delicious!
- 1 pound Lard (must be lard…not shortening)
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 2tsp Anise seed (I used a liquid extract because I don’t like the seeds)
- 2 Eggs
- 6 cups Flour
- 3 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Brandy
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 Tbs Cinnamon
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.
