My daughter just turned 9 years old last week.  I know that is just a matter of time, and she will be going through puberty.  It’s not something I’m looking forward to, but I know that there is nothing I can do to stop it.  Ready or not, here is comes!  I was asked to become a member of the U by Kotex Ambassador Program and knew it was perfect timing!  We don’t all feel comfortable talking to our daughter about this change, but it is important that they hear about it.  If we don’t tell them the facts, the girls will talk among themselves and could share bad information.

I was reviewing the Kotex site and found this great video from Aimee Teegarden by Kotex and Nickelodeon.  She talks about her mother being open and honest with her.  That is so important!  Our daughters might be confused and scared about what is happening.

My daughter seems pretty open to talk about things with me and I have never tried to make it uncomfortable or dance around questions.  I tell her the truth and explain it at whatever level she has been at.  We haven’t had the full-on, this is what happens and why talk just yet, but it won’t be long!

I received a box in the mail with several boxes of the U by Kotex Tween boxes.  When I took them to put them away for now (since we won’t be using them for a while) and Kylie was sitting at the computer.  I called her over to tell her what I was putting away.  Her response was, “Ugh, it will still be a few years for me…right?!  Boys are SO lucky!”  I laughed so hard.  I explained that yes, boys are lucky they don’t have to deal with that, but they have their own things they go through.

If you are unsure of how to talk with your daughter about starting her period, visit the U by Kotex website for helpful information and tips!  I will also spend the next few months sharing helpful information!

I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by KotexTween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
