Being in the Albuquerque area, there isn’t a lot of time to spend around water in the summer time. I’m always jealous of my friends that can go to the beach! We have pools, but that isn’t quite the same….you have to be creative when it comes to fun things to do in the summer to cool off. With it reaching over 100 degrees most days, you want to stay as cool as possible !
We love going to the pool, but it’s so hot outside. You get burned so quickly…..so instead we go for the indoor aquatic center. Look at how much fun it is!!! There are two large slides and these buckets that dump…in addition to a small slide and even a diving board! The kids love it. They can have fun in the water but we don’t have to worry about sun screen or burning! I think there should be more indoor pools for the kids to enjoy themselves!
When we do make it out to the park, we love going to a splash water park. The one in this picture is Mariposa park in Rio Rancho. It is SO much fun. There is water that shoots out of the ground. The kids will go play for a while and when they get too warm, they cool off in the water. It is a great time and the kids love going!
More than anything…my kids love going to visit their grandparents in the mountains! Diego used to cry having to sit in his car seat, then he got the Britax Frontier 85 SICT. He loves his new seat, so the hour and a half ride doesn’t seem SO long now. It’s soft and cushy for him. Notice he has a Nintendo DS in his hands…yep, he is addicted to technology. I think the kids love watching movies in the car and playing their games and reading the Kindle more than anything. :)
We didn’t get to go anywhere outside the area for the summer, but I think we had a great time. The kids have had fun and we found things to do in the city! Only a few more weeks left….I wonder how many more things we can do before they go back to school!

Looks like fun! We didn’t get to go anywhere big for vacation this summer….a lot of long day trips though. Still a fun summer and lots to do.
