My family loves pizza, but my daughter and I are allergic to tomatoes, so even a little bit of pizza sauce can make our tongues well up. We have to be creative. I tried this new recipe and fell in love! BBQ Chicken Pizza is easy to make and is so yummy! The best part of this pizza is, you can add as much or as little sauce as you’d like. Lots of BBQ or just a little…it is completely up to you!
BBQ Chicken Pizza
Ingredients:
Pizza Crust
4 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp yeast
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp honey
1.5 tsp salt
1.5 cups warm water
Pizza
2+ cups BBQ sauce
1-2 cups cooked chicken, cubed
sliced red onion
2-3 cups shredded cheddar cheese (I didn’t have enough cheddar, so mine is a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven 400 degrees. Make crust first. Mix water and yeast. In a large bowl combine all ingredients until mixed well. Knead for five minutes. Remove dough from bowl and roll the dough flat.
2. Place dough on a pizza stone or pizza baking pan. Stretch to fit the sides of the pan and brush with olive oil. Bake for 5-8 minutes. Remove from oven.
3. Spread dough with BBQ sauce. Sprinkle with cheese. Layer chicken and onions. Drizzle a little extra BBQ sauce on top and return to oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
4. Enjoy! Add a salad and you are set!
