If you live in New Mexico or have ever spent any time in the area, you know how incredibly gorgeous our sunsets are. They are breathtaking. The sky is filled with pinks and purples and oranges and oh my! When I was asked by Better Homes and Garden to create a fragrance that would represent New Mexico, I knew I wanted to be based on those sunsets. Of course, initially I thought about chile…because, well, green chile is kind of a big thing around here…..but for a candle, I think not! I wanted the scent to be a mixture to represent the spicy cuisine we have here mixed with the sweet colors of the sunsets……Here is my inspiration:
That was the thought in my mind as I headed to Walmart to purchase the scented wax cubes to create my scent. I smelled so many…..they were all great….but once I found Cinnamon & Spice, I knew I had my start! That’s the spice I needed, but what about the sweet. What will be right? I smelled and smelled…then I found Pomegranate Passion Fruit. I held them together and smelled…I was in heaven. It was EXACTLY what I had envisioned. So I bought a warmer and the two packages of wax melts and off I went to my house!
My house has smelled amazing since I got the melts! I burn them every day! My kids love the way the house has smelled……it was the perfect scent to represent my beautiful state!
Now I need your help!!!
All entries for all 50 states (plus D.C……so 51 total) have been added to the BHG Live Better Facebook page. I NEED for you to go and vote for New Mexico and the Southwest Sunset fragrance…..that’s ME! Pretty please?!?!
