What would YOU have asked President Obama?! I bet not these questions!

Being a local radio station, the Morning Mayhem crew had to have been STOKED to get to interview President Obama.  Too bad it was a waste of time.  Well, that’s my opinion, anyway.  I’m not hating on the fact they got to interview him, I mean, I wouldn’t even know what I would want to ask…..but I know it would have to do something with our economy, jobs, education…the things that are impacting my life.

What did Morning Mayhem ask him……….Some hard hitting questions about food, super powers and music.  Uuumm…there is nothing said during that interview that makes me want to vote for him.  I mean, the interview did show he is a real person…..but we already know that.  You can tell that.

I can appreciate the fact that he hasn’t had a chance to try New Mexican food…..and I found it funny when he said he ate mole while he was here…..since that’s a Mexican food and not NEW Mexican…..there is a difference!  Honestly, I have never eaten mole and I’ve lived in New Mexico most of my life.  Subtract cool points for that one.

They ask him what super power he would want……sigh…..not impressed.  To speak any language.  Really?  You could be invisible, fly, whatever else and you want to speak languages?  Rosetta Stone can do that for you.  Subtract points there as well.

It was interesting hearing about his music preferences…..I guess.  I mean, it doesn’t impact my choice to vote/not vote for him, but it is always interesting to hear what type of music people enjoy.  I like his style…some old school mixed with current.  I could jam out to the same stuff…..although he’s never heard “Call Me Maybe”……uuummmm…wow.  Earned some points back there.

Basically, that was the interview in a nutshell.  I mean, in the process of the 7 minute interview he did get a chile war going with Colorado.  NO ONE has better chile than New Mexico….those are fighting words!

Now, I know they aren’t CNN or any other real NEWS station..they are a music station and want to relate to the rest of us. The moms and dads working hard to support our families, the normal every day people that like to listen to some “Call Me Maybe” while they are driving into work…..but you didn’t ask one real question.  Could you have spent a moment and asked what he is going to do to help everyone that seems to be having harder times this year than they ever have.  I know more people struggling to make ends meet than any other time in their lives.  Everything is getting more expensive…shoot there are days I need to run out and I can’t afford to because the gas to just too darn expensive.  The price of food is going up, how are we going to afford spending an extra 40% on groceries in the coming months?!?  It didn’t have to be in depth and get into the really hot topics..but could you have spent the time to touch on anything that mattered?!

For that moment in time you were the voice of New Mexico…..and you asked about what food to eat if you visited Chicago.  *sigh*  You asked about super powers.  *sigh*  I’m not saying those questions shouldn’t have been asked….I mean, mix them in….BUT, ask something of relevance.  Ask something that matters.  Ask a question a grown up would ask instead of things my kids would have come up with.  I asked my 11 year old what he would ask the President of the United States of America if he had the chance….his answer?  ”What’s his favorite food?”  Okay, so he’s right in line with these three…..congrats, you asked the question of a 6th grader.  I then asked my 6 year old the same thing..he answers, “uuummmm, Did you ever play any video games?”  Okay so that wasn’t covered in this interview..maybe my kids can help if you ever got the chance to do this interview again.   I’m sure they could come up with some more questions for you.

If you had the chance to interview President Obama, what would you have asked him?

  1. You know, he could come here and try mole too, but I guarantee it’s not the same. And according to my mom, he’s in Rochester today, which is five minutes from us. Maybe I should bring him mole from here. HAHA!

On a serious note, I agree. He should have been asked a couple of questions that do matter to us. I am one of the people struggling to make ends meet and struggling to find a job. I have no idea what I’m going to do i prices continue to go up. I won’t be able to afford to feed my kids.

    • That’s all I’m saying! Ask the fun questions, but put some worth to the interview. It’s cool he can chat it up and be a “normal” person….but I want to know what I should vote for him. *sigh*

  2. I actually enjoy hearing the personal side of the president. Every other interview in the news ask the”hard” questions so to hear the president talk about something else would be refreshing.

  3. If they didn’t ask him about the Book of Secrets then they stink!

  4. I think on a radio type show such as that, they should keep it light, fun etc… I appreciate hearing those things that make the big wigs more real and relate-able!
And… since we’re both Chi-towners, I know the guy knows what’s up when it comes to food :)

  5. Ummm yep those are some odd questions to ask the President.
Hmmmm…I may have asked him to name the most memorable moment during his Presidency and the one that he dreads the most

  6. I like seeing the human side of the President but for him to be fielding questions like this in a campaign year seems like a waste of time. But hey, we all are unproductive at times.

  7. Everybody is always asking the president political/economical/educational questions, which DOES make sense, especially since he’s running for a second term. However, Obama is the first black president of the United States. That’s really big. His term is almost over and we have no way of knowing whether there will be a second. I think I’d rather share this with my grandkids than an interview where I asked Obama his opinion on health care…at least it’d be entertaining

  8. I don’t mind asking some light-hearted questions, but this morning show had the presidents ear, albeit brief, but they did have it. And for that brief moment in time, they were the voice of New Mexicans to the President of the United States of America. I would have liked for them to included questions about the how the economy is affecting New Mexicans, about education as that is concern for many with children. You can still have a great light-hearted interview, with all the dumb ass questions you want to ask, but still include a few that should matter to most New Mexicans.

P.S. I hate that radio station anyways, they fired Leah Black.

  9. I could have come up with some doozies. But I bet he’d never answer them, lol.

  10. I understand being a radio station that they needed to keep it somewhat light. However, it was a bit of a missed opportunity. imo

  11. I’m not impressed with their questions, but I’m never impressed with his answers, so I’m sure I would have been disappointed either way. :/
