Mi Best Buy……Mi Cultura

When you think about Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) you may not think of how Best Buy helps you to celebrate.  I really wasn’t sure about it myself.  I mean, it’s an electronics store.  What can an electronics store possibly do to help me celebrate my Hispanic Heritage?  Well, I visited my local store to see what they were doing and what they had that could help me.

When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and asked if I needed help with anything.  A smiling face at the door definitely makes you feel welcome.  I told him I was going to be purchasing a new Xbox 360 with Kinect.  He got me over to the right department and I had someone helping me right away.

Within seconds he showed me the variety of Xbox 360′s they had available.  This is perfect and I know my kids will love it.  Our family loves spending time together playing games, so I know they will love to play with the Kinect!  There are so many games that they can play against each other.

In order for them to play against their cousins in other states, we are going to get them Xbox Live.  Using this they can get online and play against their cousins that they don’t get to see regularly.  It’s a great way to stay in touch and still play with their distant family.  You can save 50% off an Xbox LIVE 3 MONTH Gold Membership with console purchase.  Half off?  I’ll take it!

I asked them if there was anyone that worked there that spoke Spanish.  He said they do have quite a few associates that are bilingual.  Nation-wide there are over 1000 stores with Spanish-speaking sales associate in more than 300 locations.  I think that is great!  I have a lot of family and friends that speak little to no English, so it will be nice that they can still get help while they are there.  There are many stores that don’t have anyone bilingual, so if they need assistance it is hard for them to understand or explain exactly what they need.  I also found out the Best Buy has online shopping in Spanish!  No need to translate, just visit Best Buy ESP for your shopping convenience en espanol.

You can’t have an Xbox 360 with Kinect and not have a game or two.  I asked the associate for his opinion on a good game.  When he asked what we liked, I told him that I’m Latina….so I love to dance!  The Kinect is perfect for dancing games and told me to get some Latin flare, I had to buy Zumba!  I LOVE that game, the music is amazing, the dancing is fun and the workout is KILLER!  The perfect combination!

Thank you so much to Best Buy and Xbox, we’ll be having a blast, playing games con todo la familia and connecting with our family in other states to play and have fun together!  There are ways an electronics store can help me celebrate mi cultura!  Who would have thought?!

It’s great that stores like BEST BUY have sale associates who can speak other languages beside English. I know it’s hard for my parents to go to stores without me, since they don’t speak English. Yay, for best buy and I do love X-box Kinect!!!!!!!!!
