With a family of five, it is pretty common for one of the kids to bring home some germs and spread through the entire family. We always are wondering if/when we should take them into the doctor. Luckily, we have health insurance in those cases. If we didn’t, I’m not sure what we would do. You don’t want your family to be sick and not be taken care of, but at the same time, how do you afford the doctor without insurance. One simple visit can cost over $100, and if they order blood work and labs?!? Oh my!
If you don’t have insurance available through your work, there are still other places to get Individual Medical Insurance. Whether you have a family or not, it is important that you are covered. What do you do if you get sick and HAVE to go to the doctor? Do you have that much money put away to cover an emergency room visit? Probably not.
A few years back my husband got really sick and ended up with the Swine Flu. It was scary and they kept him at the hospital overnight and did so many tests. I couldn’t imagine what the bill would have been if we would have had to pay it out of pocket!
The hospital and doctors are there for you if you need them, but you have to carry insurance to help pay for those bills. Carrying a health insurance plan is a must. Even if you aren’t sick often, you can purchase a plan that is cheaper each month, but you will have to pay more out of pocket for visits. Be sure to take a look and figure out what would work best for you and your family. There are plans to fit everyone’s needs.
