The other day my friend called and we were talking about things guys won’t ever understand. This was prompted from a question she got from a single friend that has a daughter. He asked if there were such thing as “period panties”. My friend and I both agreed that there are in fact “period panties” and he was floored. These are things that men don’t understand and won’t ever have to….but even as a young girl, you don’t understand until the time comes.
There is much more to your period than just pads and panties….so much more. Our young girls should be prepared and know that these things are common and there are ways to make life much easier during their time of the month.
What should she be ready for?
It’s a no-brainer for all women because we have dealt with this each month for far too many months to want to own up to. We deal with this time of the month without batting an eye. But it may not be so easy for our young girls to know what they are dealing with or what you must do differently during the longest week of the month. (or so it feels anyway)
Here are some tips to remind our young ones:
- Be sure to change your pad frequently. If you put it off too long you could stain your underwear or have it go through to your pants..and that’s really embarrassing.
- Hygiene is key. You must make sure you stay extra clean during this time because there are odors that you don’t want to be associated with if you don’t care for yourself.
- It’s okay to cry. You will be extra emotional and that is okay, we all get that way.
- Tylenol or Ibuprofen is your best friend. It will help with the headaches and body aches.
