Dia de los Reyes (Three Kings Day) is a holiday that is celebrated throughout Mexico and a few other Latin countries. On January 6 (12 days after Christmas), Dia de los Reyes is celebrated to commemorate the arrival of Reyes Magos (the Three Wise Men) arriving in Bethlehem with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for baby Jesus.
When children wake up on January 6, they receive gifts, just as Jesus did. You can imagine why the kids love this holiday….in addition to Christmas, they receive gifts 12 days after Christmas! Score! Just when the toys from Christmas are losing their excitement, new ones are brought.
I like to give the kids gifts that are more than just toys. I want to give them something that celebrates family, that celebrates unity. I already have an Xbox 360 with Kinect, so it was the perfect opportunity to get the kids some games to go with it that will help them have fun….together.
