Is your skirt well positioned? #Orgullosa

I am a woman.  I am Latina.  I am a professional.  I am strong.  I am proud of who I am and where I come from.

I will not be held back just because I am a woman.  This has happened in the past and I will not allow that anymore.  I work hard for what I have and how far I’ve come.  I am successful because I push boundaries, I think outside the box and know that my culture has taught me to have a strong work ethic.  This is who I am.

I am one of the “Mujeres con La Falda Bien Puesta™” which means “women with their skirt well positioned”.  This may not make sense to you when you hear that…but let me explain.

I take pride in my appearance and love to dress up, do my hair, makeup and LOVE my cute shoes.  Don’t take this as a weakness.  I know what I want and I know how to get it.  I know that when I walk into a business meeting I’m not always taken seriously right away.  I know that people might think I don’t know what I’m doing, but I quickly can show them that I am a professional.  I have worked from the ground up.  I am proud of what I have become.

I really began to embrace this when I started to interact with more of my Latina blogger friends.  The more I realized how powerful we were, the more I wanted to advance.  The more I wanted to learn.  The more I wanted to stand out and do something BIG.  I had always been the quiet one in the corner at networking events.  I was unsure of what to say or if anyone would even take me seriously.  Interacting with my Latina friends helped my confidence to grow and taught me that I could be great.  I could do big things.  I couldn’t sit back and wait for things to happen, I had to get out and make it happen.

I teach my daughter these same qualities.  I am teaching her that yes, you are  girl.  You want to dress in cute clothes and you want to look nice, but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t take you seriously.  You have to work hard and embrace your uniqueness to stand out.  If the friends you have aren’t helping to build you up, they aren’t the right friends to have. was created to help Latinas interact, peer-to-peer.  It is a community to share solutions and ideas to help make changes for busy lifestyles.  Latinas have limitless potential, and through this powerful community we are able to seize that potential.

As Latina’s we are raised to be everything to every one and to simultaneously take on the multiple roles. We need to be strong independent women, double up as mom’s, triple as wives and quadruple as everything else. I agree with you Amber, we need to take pride in how we look and just because we do does not make us weak. #Latina #Orgullosa
