Disclosure: This tutorial was written because I am a Lowe’s Creative Ideas blogger. I was provided a gift card to purchase supplies. All thoughts expressed are 100% my own.
How many gifts do you have to buy this year? How many gifts would you like to purchase and maybe you just don’t have the time/money. I always want to get something for everyone…especially when someone hosts a party or something. I mean, yes, I could show up with a poinsetta, but how many can you really have you in your home? Why not something a little more useful? As a part of the Lowe’s Creative Ideas team, I was asked to come up with an easy DIY hostess gift. My mind was jumping with ideas. I wanted something useful, easy to make and inexpensive. Something anyone could use. Then it hit me….everyone needs coasters!
I created these really simple rope coasters with only two items….rope and glue. Okay, so you’ll need a pair of scissors to cut the rope, but that’s a given, right? You can create these in just a few minutes and tied together with some pretty ribbon makes them a great gift! Here’s all you need:
- Rope (get creative there are different colors, sizes, materials)
- Glue (I used hot glue because it holds it quickly)
Take the end of your rope and place a small dab of glue. Fold the end in and begin to create a circle. About an inch at a time, place a small line of glue and then attach to the circle. Keep going around until you make your coaster the size you’d like. Cut the rope off and glue the end. I like to place another dab of glue onto the end of the rope itself to help prevent fraying.
