My husband spoiled me and bought me the cutest Coach purse….ever. It was my first “designer” purse and I was trying to be SO careful with it. Since it’s such a light color, I thought FOR SURE I’d touch against something and get a mark on it. Nope. Before that could happen (and I’m sure it will) I stuck a pen in my purse that left a big ‘ol mark on the inside. I almost cried when I saw it.
I big pen mark right on the inside of the pretty tan satin. I had no idea what to do. I tried the fabric cleaner I bought at Coach and guess what? It didn’t do anything except smear the ink. ACK.
Then I figured it out.
So here it is….how to remove ink from the INSIDE of a Coach purse. Disclaimer: I can NOT guarantee this will work on all ink stains and I can NOT guarantee it will not harm the fabric of your purse. I only know this is what what worked for ME. Use at your own discretion.
First off, do you understand why I’ve been worried about getting my purse dirty? It’s SO light..but adorable. I couldn’t pass it up. It’s SO me.
Now, to get your ink our of the fabric!
Pull the lining out of the purse as much as possible. I was able to basically turn mine inside out. Spray the mark with hairspray. Yes….hairspray. I use TRESemme but I’m pretty sure any would work…this is just what I had on hand.
Allow the hairspray to sit for about 30 seconds then carefully rinse the fabric in the sink. This is the tricky part because you don’t want water on the leather portions of your purse so leave the water on VERY low, making sure you only wet the are you sprayed with hairspray.
Pat dry with a clean, dry (light colored) cloth or towel. If you can still see the mark, repeat spraying with hairspray and rinsing.
Allow the fabric to fully dry and you are set!
Wasn’t that easy? So no need to freak out on that pen that clicked open in your purse…just grab your hairspray and clean it up!
